Indian Leather Development Programme
A new Plan scheme titled Indian
Leather Development Programmed (ILDP) was introduced. The objectives of ILDP are mainly to bridge critical gaps in infrastructure for integrated development of leather industry, to activate national agencies towards tackling perceived gaps in the industry, to promote and enhance productivity, value addition and employment, to undertake investment/trade development activities and build up an information base for leather industry. One of the main activities under ILDP was implementation of Tannery
Modernization Scheme,
received very well by the leather industry. Under ILDP, decentralized common facility centres and design studios have been supported in various parts of the country.
INTEC Marts (investment cum technology promotion events) were also sponsored during the important international leather fairs held annually at Chennai and
New Delhi
The
leather Industry is seeking fund from the government of India with a view to
make tanners and manufacturers of leather goods to take maximum benefit in
regard comply with world class production and International Environmental
requirements leading. To Technological up gradation of tanning and
manufacturing and also to generate more employment
